Root Causes of Disease
Disease or dis-ease (the lack of ease) arises when various aspects of your diet and lifestyle do not mesh with your constitution. All of us are subject to various forms of mental, physical and emotional stress, but these stresses only make us ill when they overwhelm our ability to cope with them. For example, lifting weights can make your muscles stronger, but if you try to lift more than your body can handle you may pull or tear something and injure yourself.
Some people have stronger constitutions and are able to get away with abusing their bodies more without having their health break down. Other people have constitutional weaknesses that make it more difficult to cope with various forms of stress. This means that a person may need extra nutrient, more rest or other dietary and lifestyle supports to shore up their ability to meet life's challenges.
To both avoid illness, and to aid recovery from illness, we need to reduce unnecessary stresses from our lives and provide a healthy environment for our bodies to thrive in. This involves four things, each of which contracts one of the root causes of disease:
Good Nutrition
Avoidance of Toxins
Positive Mental Attitude and Emotional Health
Proper Care of the Body
Chronic diseases don't develop overnight... you don't "catch" cancer or hardening of the arteries the way you catch a cold or flu. These diseases often develop gradually over a period of time. Just as a fish tank needs a certain environment for the fish to thrive, so does your body need a certain environment. Intake of nutrient dense foods, consistent exercise, dealing with stress in a healthy way, and avoiding toxic substances will provide a foundation for good health. When the occasion does arise that an issue needs to be addressed, you can focus in on it with use of herbs and other nutraceuticals to get at the root cause right away. It will take time, no doubt, but you will already have a good foundation so as not to start at the bottom to get those good habits in place. You will be ready to deal with the issue at hand.
Are you in a place where you need assistance getting on track with any of the four topics above? Reach out to us! We will share our many strategies for each and support you on your journey.
